Wednesday secured a prestigious win at the 28th National Television Awards, claiming victory in the competitive Best New Drama category. Despite facing formidable contenders, the popular Netflix series emerged triumphant, outshining other nominees such as the Death in Paradise spin-off Beyond Paradise, the police drama Blue Lights, and the Bridgerton prequel series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, a significant portion of the Wednesday cast was notably absent from the NTAs held on September 5. Consequently, British actor Moosa Mostafa, renowned for his portrayal of Eugene Ottinger in the hit Netflix drama, graciously accepted the award on behalf of his fellow cast members.

Expressing his gratitude, Mostafa initially thanked Wednesday’s devoted fans, acknowledging the incredible and unwavering support the show has received. He then extended his appreciation to key stakeholders, including Netflix, MGM, the dedicated producers, the talented cast, and the visionary director Tim Burton.

Mostafa candidly shared his personal journey amid newfound fame since Wednesday’s remarkable success, describing it as a surreal and overwhelming experience. Remarkably, despite his newfound stardom, he revealed that he would return to school in just two days, emphasizing the whirlwind nature of his current reality.

In an exciting development, Netflix has confirmed the return of Wednesday for its second season, featuring Jenna Ortega reprising her titular role, alongside fellow cast members such as Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and more.
